Photography Blogs

Looking for inspiration elsewhere?  I've started collecting photography blog links, here is a list for you:

Have I missed anyone important?  Are any of the links no longer working?  If so please let me know:

5b4

Written by Jeffrey Ladd (now also creative director of Errata Editions, which republishes older photobooks) 5b4 is devoted to photobooks and features reviews of the author’s often fairly eclectic collection.

1000 Words Photography
This photography blogs highlights a sensational array of photographers, many of whom are relatively unknown. The blog, written mostly by Tim Clark, offers a mixture of well-written book and exhibition reviews, advice to photographers and news of fairs and competitions.

aCurator
Julie Grahame launched aCurator in 2009 to, in her words, “show more and larger images than average, more depth and give the photographer a voice”. Each post is centred on one photographer or topic, with a general introduction by Grahame and often featuring the artist’s work in a full-screen layout.

ArtRabbit
This may cover a wide range of topics under the 'art' umbrella but there is plenty of photo news and exhibition reviews.  Make sure you subscribe to their newsletter for weekly updates for your diary.

Conscientious

One of the most important and informative photography blogs.

David Campbell
David Campbell’s blog is centred on documentary photography, photojournalism, multimedia and the new-media economy.

DLK Collection
From one photography collector to another: a venue for thoughtful discussion of vintage and contemporary photography via reviews of recent museum exhibitions, gallery shows, photography auctions, photo books, art fairs and other items of interest to photography collectors large and small.

Feature Shoot

Accepts all types of work, from fine art to advertising, student work, to work from the top photographers in the game.  Great design and some informative articles.

Little Brown Mushroom

One of the most influential blogs out there as it is the work of Alec Soth.  If you only chose to follow a handful of blogs then make sure this one is on your list.

Martin Parr
Occasional posts from 'love him or hate him' photographer Martin Parr.

Mrs. Deane

Written by Hester Keijser and Norman Beierle, Mrs Deane lives mostly in the so-called fine-art photography realm. The mix of photography includes curated selections of photographers, but also more eclectic themes such photographs on matchbook covers or obscure online archives of photography.

Of The Afternoon

Was started in April 2012 as a platform for new and emerging photographers to share their work with a wider audience.

Prison Photography

Quite specialist as it focuses on images in or about prisons and, given the high incarceration rate in the US, there is no shortage of material to cover.  Some interesting articles and photographers who would get no coverage elsewhere.

Self Publish Be Happy

Publishers, workshops, a great online store and some picture heavy blog posts.

The Online Photographer

A daily news website for photo enthusiasts, in blog format. Past contributors number more than 50 writers, including professional photographers, several photography magazine veterans, and writers from other fields who have a special interest in photography.

Unless You Will

Relies mostly on images with only brief introductions to the artists' work.  Great when you don't want to wade through pages of arty waffle.
